Halloween Tree Decorations | Simple Ideas for Decorating Your Trees for Halloween
If you enjoy Halloween as much as I do, you may want to hang up a few Halloween Tree Decorations in your front yard. With Halloween just a couple weeks away, this weekend is probably a good time to share some photos of several Halloween Tree Decorations that will make the task quick and easy. Take a peek at a few simple ideas I found on Amazon for my yard:
Betty Bash the Tree Crashing Witch
Depending on your sense of humor, you may or not find this to be hilarious? For those that share my sense of humor, the Tree Crashing Witch is super easy to install and it won’t harm your trees. Simply wrap her arms around a small tree and affix the Velcro tabs. For larger trees you can use a short piece of twine to connect the arms and legs. Take it one step further and place a spotlight on the ground in front of the tree to highlight the witch at night.
Living Tree
If you’re looking for creepy Halloween Tree Decorations this is it! The Living tree has realistic looking hands and facial features. The shriveled up mummified appearing skin is sinister and somewhat disturbing. While the kit comes with small picture hanger type nails for installation, I prefer to use brown twine to I don’t damage the tree bark.
Tree Hugging Ghost
If you’re not amused by the crashing witch or if your tiny tots are horrified by the living tree, you may want to consider the Tree Hugging Ghost. This little guy is simply adorable, he’s cute not creepy. The ghost is so easy to install, simply wrap the arms around the tree and tie them together.
Creepy Tree Ghost
The Creepy Tree Ghost is outfitted with scary red LED eyes that fade in and out to bring your tree to life. The kit includes two 29” ties so you can wrap this ominous decoration around larger trees in your front yard.
Whimsical Tree Face
If you’re searching for Halloween tree decorations that are a little more subtle, you may want to go with the whimsical tree face. You can mount these to all of the trees that line your sidewalk to keep a watchful eye on the trick or treaters. The individual pieces are intended to be mounted on nails, and you know how I feel about driving nails into a living tree. Hopefully you can manage to find another method to attach the pieces. I have used fishing line myself, it’s a little more work, but the line is invisible and unlike nails, it won’t harm the tree.
Tips for Mounting Halloween Tree Decorations
Never Use Nails: The last thing you want to do is drive a nail into an otherwise healthy tree. While in most cases, the tree will survive, it’s simply not worth the risk. Nails and screws that penetrate the outer bark can damage the phloem & xylem, the cells which transport nutrients to the roots and canopy respectively. Puncture wounds can also create an easy access point for insects and disease.
Alternatives to Nails: In place of nails, try using one of these items to mount your decorations: Ratchet Straps, Bungee Cords, Fishing Line, or Twine.
Remove Wire: If you need to use wire to mount your Halloween tree decorations, be sure to remove the wire as soon as Halloween has passed. Left behind, wire can choke and possibly kill the tree as it grows.
